On the first of september 2008, the first cycle of Saint Alexis drawings was taken down, wrapped in cigarette paper, and transported to Antwerp, where it was re-hung at the Zwarte Panter gallery. To facilitate the transport the panels were cut into vertical strips following the dynamic structure of the drawings. As they came down, the figures seemed momentarily to come to life, like Bendico at the end of Lampedusa’s Il Gattopardo.
